Alvarado and Bobs Appliance

Bobs Appliance is a second-generation, veteran-owned family business based in the Cleburne area, and Alvarado is one of the towns we serve. Owner and technician Ross brings more than 20 years of appliance repair experience.

We repair appliances where they are, in your home or business, so there's nothing to haul anywhere. Call the office and we'll set up a visit.

What We Repair in Alvarado

We work on common brands like Whirlpool, Maytag, Samsung, LG, GE, Frigidaire, Kenmore, and KitchenAid. We repair gas appliances as well as electric ones.

One thing to know up front: we don't currently repair refrigerator sealed systems. That's the compressor and refrigerant side of the cooling system. If that's what we find, we'll explain it plainly so you can decide what to do next.

Service Calls and Our Repair Warranty

Service calls are $125 or $150, depending on the appliance. We'll confirm the fee when you schedule. If we complete the recommended repair, you pay the repair price we quote you before starting, with no separate service-call charge. If no repair is completed, only the service-call fee applies.

90-day warranty on parts and labor for the repair we did. If that same part fails within 90 days, we'll fix it at no charge.

It helps to have a few things handy:

  • The brand of the appliance.
  • What it's doing, or not doing.
  • Any error codes on the display.
  • A photo of the model and serial number tag, if it's easy to get to.

Can't find the tag? No problem. You can still book a visit.

If you have a video or a helpful photo, the office will explain how to send it when you make your appointment.

Please don't move the appliance or take off any panels to get any of this.

Ribs, Reunions, and the Town Square

Barbecue royalty lives here

Alvarado is home to pitmaster Johnny Trigg of the Smokin' Triggers barbecue team. He won the Jack Daniel's World Invitational Barbecue championship in 2000 and again in 2003, the first pitmaster to win it twice, and he went into the Barbecue Hall of Fame in 2012.

A reunion with 130-plus years of fiddles and parades

The Johnson County Pioneers and Old Settlers Reunion goes back to 1893, when more than 2,000 people turned out for the first one near Cleburne. It soon found a home in Alvarado. In the early 1900s it was held on the platform of the Alvarado compress, and former Texas Governor James S. Hogg was among the speakers who addressed the crowds. Over the years it grew to draw more than ten thousand people for carnivals, parades, and queen, baby, and fiddle contests. It's still going: the 134th annual reunion was held in October 2026.

From jailhouse to garden

In the mid-1880s, a big combined jail and town hall went up on Alvarado's square. In the 1920s it was taken down and replaced with a garden, and a gazebo was added later.
