Old Betsy, the train with one stop
On December 20, 1902, the first passenger train pulled into Keene. Local residents had raised $3,000 to get a passenger train running on the 10-mile line between Cleburne and Egan, and it made exactly one stop: Keene's little depot. The steam train, nicknamed Old Betsy, was the town's main way to get around for about 20 years. Keene's main road still carries the name today: Old Betsy Road.
